First day and return to the Farm!

Well after promising Denise I would do my best to stay up as late as I could, I snapped and fell asleep at 8 last night, meaning that I had to be hauled out of bed at 12.00 this morning. I was very slow and cranky and so I loafed around for ages foraging for food like some sort of neanderthal beast emerging from its hideout after half a year hibernating. The results of my search? Some Raisin Bran. I sucked it down as fast as I can.

The plan was we would hit china town for lunch but we had to stay at home until Denise successfully ordered some "exit" sign LEDs for her condominium. She is President of the Board after all. In classic Louise Hedges fashion, I was STARVING by the time she got off the telephone, which was about an hour later. So we hopped in the car to go to downtown Seattle and in turn China Town.

We looked around some shops, some of them selling really lovely things, and others selling the classic western view of authentic chinese items, such as massive gaudy buddhas and cheap resin dragons. As we left to finally get something to eat we walked into this black man called Ernest from Mississippi, who said that Denise was "Might fine for a white chick!" I swear, I nearly lolled.

We found this awesome little Japanese bookstore that didn't just sell books, it sold all kinds of cool little geeky things like manga merchandise and Domo-kun figurines, I nearly bought something, but was reminded that I could always come back and get it another time. It was great looking through the bookstore, mainly because it made me think I was in Japan again.

We then went to "Owajimiya" An oriental supermarket with an AMAZING foodcourt, I had a bento box which in Japanese means lunchbox. We had them all the time in Japan, they contain a variety of little lunchy things for you to eat, and I also bought my favourite sushi to nosh on in case I got hungry.

Me and Denise were feeling a bit bloated and tired after lunch so we went to Discovery Park. It is BEAUTIFUL, like a massive foresty wood thing, that people go to to jog/cycle/walk/make out etc. There are all kinds of beautiful plants and ferns out there, and it makes sure that the walk is just cool enough to handle. The view was gorgeous, especially when we reached the water, it shimmered in the sun.

After we had walked we drove back to Denise's and she had another kip while I facebooked for a bit and made sure I was still in touch with the world around me. We got ready for the massive drive ahead to get to Susie's and the farm in time to see Shannon and Marie before it got too dark.

When we arrived I spotted Shannon right away, she's still got the cute little baby face and a nice frame. Her baby is ADORABLE! Honestly, Marie carries a massive "awwww" warning. You could catch diabetes just by looking at how sweet she is. I will post more pictures tomorrow so you can see for yourself.

I was given a quick tour of the house and a chance to settle in to my new room before bedtime. I chatted to Susie while she made the preparations for tomorrow's barbecue. It's gonna be fun!

Anyway I'm completely beat, so I'll see you tomorrow!

I HAVE LANDED!

*WARNING - LONG BLOG AHEAD!*

Well it took long enough but I am finally in Seattle. It was a difficult journey, we had to get up at 2.00 in the morning, I was awoken by my father yelling at me because I was late, luckily I was already clothed so all I had to do was run downstairs, shove some coffee down my throat say goodbye to Jules and the animals and run to the car.

I asked Jenn if she could accompany me to the airport so we had to pick her up from Oundle. It was hard finding her as we were all nearly comatose with sleep but she was already there waiting for us. She had a fantastic "Bon Voyage!" pressie for me. *MY PHONE* I was SO excited until I remembered it's virtually useless until you get the SIM card, which was a massive turn off, but I can always get one in the States, which is what I'll do.

Well we drove to the airport, me and Jenn being stupid and singing songs from the Lion King, with the occassional pause so Jenn could read me the latest text from Tom Booker and go "Awww" We also watched the sunrise, as we approached heathrow which so completely gorgeous, me and Jenn knew that the end was nigh and shared an emotional moment before we got to Heathrow.

When we FINALLY arrived in Heathrow, Jenn wheeled the baggage trolley over, or at least she tried to, because she forgot it was one of those "push bar thingies" We got to destinations and checked both my large bags in which were just under 20kg each. It took me ages to make sure they were the right weight. Me and Jenn needed the loo before I went through security, she then picked the best time to ask me "Imagine what would happen if you died!" and "You know Lou, this might be the last time we see each other ever" Fantastic Jenn, scare the shit out of a aviaphobic who hates flying anyway.

It came. The moment. We were right near security and that's when I had to say goodbye. Mom as usual started sobbing and dad got a bit red eyed, me and Jenn cried and cried and she gave me a letter, telling me not to lose it. Honestly, telling Louise Hedges not to lose anything is dangerous. After saying goodbye I joined the security queue and was told to drop everything, I was nearly half naked walking through the detector! I had to take off my jacket, my shoes and my belt, and even then I set it off. It was my darn necklace.

I was in WHSmith buying some snacks for the plane when I heard that there was a major squeeze on the KLM flight and hand luggage had to reduced. Luckily that was not a problem for me, but hikers inwardly cursed as they were forced to check in their massive backpacks at a charge.

The flight to Amsterdam was ok. I was sat next to two women who were from an aid group going to Uganda, one of them had a strong fear of flying and burst into tears when we prepared to take off, but I shared my pick and mix with them and she seemed to perk up. I should write a thesis on the medicinal qualities of fizzy cola bottles. We were packed like sardines on the flight, there was nowhere to put my backpack, so I had to put in on my lap, but the flight was only 45 mins. I was right at the very very back of the plane, so I could hear the flight crew speaking in dutch all the time, which kinda grated at the end.

When we arrived at Schipol I had to run to get my connecting flight because we were held up due to the fog. It was good that I set off to the next gate because it took AN ABSOLUTE AGE to get there! I had to check in a second time and pass through security but then a massive PIERCING alarm sounded off and I nearly wet myself I was so scared, but then the guards said that it wasn't me and I could continue. I sat for about 20 mins staring at my phone in wonder, marveling at how gorgeous it looked before we were told we could board.

The plane was not so bad, I had a good seat, a window seat, but there was only one person sitting next to me who was a very nice lady from Kodiak, Alaska. We talked for quite a while until we took off. The flight SNAILED on, honestly, it took AGES. I slept for most of it, waking up occasionally to eat something and go back to sleep. The entertainment on flights is getting better and better though! They had HAIRSPRAY available to watch, I watched that a few times along with a few episodes of Spongebob and that seemed to while away the time much faster.

As we flew across the north pole and Iceland the view was breathtaking, you could see the icy glaciers below us and the random patched of ice in the sea, it was so gorgeous. That slowly turned to flying over Canada, which in turn turned to flying over the rockies, and then Seattle came into view, as soon as I saw the Space Needle I knew I was home. That's when I read Jenn's letter, which made me cry so much the woman next to me gave me a pack of tissues and an ear so I could chat about her. Jenn if your reading this, I LOVE YOU TOO!

I passed through customs very easily surprisingly and what was really weird was that I got my baggage in RECORD time, they were the first two suitcases off the conveyor belt. I met up with Denise who's mom's school friend and in classic Denise fashion said "Is there anywhere we can eat" to which she replied "Oh I forgot, you're the one who likes to eat a lot!" - Yeh that is me. We ate at Daimonji, a little japanese place in Georgetown which really hit the spot and then we drove right back to her condo.

I got a chance to call people and check my emails and was once again deeply touched by the personal messages everyone left on facebook, it's already difficult knowing I have to go on without you here, but those messages brought you one step closer, thanks. <3

I started to feel a bit drowsy so Denise took me for a walk outside in the sun, I regret not bringing my suncap because now my scalp is quite unpleasantly pink with the sun, from now on I must put a cap on everytime I go out. I'm now in Denise's condo trying my best not to fall asleep and looking forward to my shower when the bathroom becomes available.

Tomorrow I am meeting up with Susie and GOING BACK TO THE FARM! Honestly, you have no idea how excited I am about that.

Well that's all for now, speak tomorrow!

The last day on "This God forsaken isle"

Well today is my last day here. It's kinda weird. I woke up at 10 with butterflies in my stomach feeling kinda sick. I can't believe the day has actually come. Dad called me in to eat breakfast with him and mom and shoved some of my favourite cake (whie chocolate and raspberry) in front of my nose. Normally I would just hoover it up but oddly today I could not manage it.

I went back on youtube to upload the last of my guitar videos, I'm sure you have seen all of them (hint hint) but if you havent my channel is louisterthethird. Everything should be on there.

Dad also suggested that I should do online check in through KLM, I got to pick my seat to Amsterdam but not to the states which seriously sucked. I get really claustrophobic in small planes so I picked an aisle seat for quick dashes in case it gets too much. Hattie called in the morning which I found incredibly sweet, we had a last minute chat and she wished me well. Which reminds me, all your support and messages on facebook really touched me. You are all so sweet! Thankyou so much.

I took the dog for a walk and the weird feeling overtook me again when I reminded myself it would be the last time I would walk round the park with my doggie :( When I got home I opened my LAST strongbow, I felt horrible. But then Jules and her university friends came round and I played some wii with them before playing a seriously weird geeky game with them (I can't remember the name, I'll find out for you) and I came second! Honestly, that is such an honor when you think that the others have played it often.

At midnight I decided to go for a two hour nap in preparation for meeting Jenn and flying out.

Goodbye and GOOD LUCK!

Split into two parts. One talk and one song.

I love all of you so much. Have fun!

Return to Legoland - The old stomping ground

Mount Rushmore in lego

Well this week has sure been hectic. I leave tonight for America and my friends have been organising various things to do before I go, which I must say is incredibly sweet of them.

On thursday it was Joe's turn to spend some time with me, and he did it was tremendous aplomb. He took me to Legoland Windsor. Now, Joe and I have gone to Legoland three times before, but that was when both of us we're very young and would find anything excitable, we instantly reverted back to children, the types that would point and loudly go "OOH! LET'S GO ON THAT ONE!" much to the annoyance of any parent that was accompanying us at the time.

Joe racing me in lego racers and actually beating me!

But it was just me and him this time, and it was all hashed together very quickly, meaning that I had to get up at 6.00 in the morning to be driven to Chingford, catch a train into walthamstow central, catch another train into Vauxhall, catch ANOTHER train from Vauxhall to Windsor and THEN catch a shuttlebus to legoland. I must say, the transport really wore us down, especially sitting in THE QUIET COACH of the train with a group of roudy children that we're clearly NOT quiet, but ahem I digress....

We did all the usual bits, we went on pirate falls, we went on the dragon, we did laser raiders, we went a lot of water rides, mainly because it was ridiculously hot and we needed cooling off. This we did in the gaming pod as well which had the latest selection of lego computer games, at the entrance was a massive lego Indiana Jones which was SO awesome!
Me and Lego Indiana Jones

We also went on the Dragon rollercoaster which was our mutual favourite the last time we went, it did not disappoint. It was still as exciting as it always has been. The dragon coaster is set in a medieval section of the park, there was a gift shop with various knight-themed merchandise, I could resist modelling it for you.
Me being a clown in the shop

Anyway we had a great time, and spent LOADS of money in the shop, the return journey home was bearable, we went back to chingford and noticed a Pipistrell bat (The smallest in the world) hanging on someone's porch so I had to take a piccie.

Cute little guy isn't he?

Thanks Joe for making my last week so memorable!

"WICKED" Weekend

Me and Andy - Wicked June 2009
Me and Andy <3

Well this Saturday my best friend Andy took me to see "Wicked" in London as my present for my birthday. He came for me seriously early to catch an early train, we went to Ripley's believe it or not odditorium in Piccadilly Circus to kill some time - It's like a British version of "The curiosity shop" in Seattle apart from it's like a museum with five floors and LOTS of exhibits. Then we had a slap up meal in Nandos and then we saw it. Wicked. I honestly cannot describe it in any other way. It truly was theatre at its finest. The woman who played Elphaba was absolutely stunning and by the very end when they sang "For Good" me and Andy were totally blubbing.

I love the theatre and it truly was the best goodbye gift anyone could have given me. I love you Andy.

Bye Bye English!

Well you can probably already guess that it was my last English exam today.

I don't think it went very well to be completely honest, genre studies is very difficult and spending two hours non stop writing can seriously start to grate, but once I got out there I breathed a huge sigh of relief that I'll never have to do anymore english work again! All of my English notes have been added to the fireplace for tomorrow's celebratory fire.

My written drama exam is tomorrow and after that me and all the girlies are going out. I must say I am a bit scared as Sophie told me today "We're gonna get you drunk! Just you wait and see!" This has frightened me somewhat; I have no wish to go to London on Saturday morning with Andy feeling like there's a herd of elephants on my head, so i will have to keep my distance....

Still I am incredibly excited of the road ahead! Going out with the girlies, going to see Wicked with Andy on Saturday, going for a barbecue with the family in Bristol, and then last minute arrangements before the leaver's service, leaver's ball and FINALLY the trip of my life!

CAN'T WAIT!

Songs, glorious songs....

Well I was in the music block today doing some recording for my "First unofficial album" called "Just think of something" Me and a good friend of mine (Thomas Booker)met in school and decided to do a few songs before I leave mainly because it would be good to have some of my songs on my Ipod, and it was also nice to spend time with Tom.

We did quite a few recordings, both on sound recording software and my digital camera. I was looking forward to putting the vids on youtube but for some weird reason (Which Barney was trying to tell me today) my camera made a three minute piece of video 225MB big! That's nearly an entire episode of CSI NY!

Edit: I finally managed to put them on youtube! I had to run video compressing software on it which unfortunately reduced the quality but here they are anyway!

This one is "On My Own" taken from the West End Musical "Les Miserables"

Bye bye RS!

I am in a very good mood today.....

I NAILED the connections paper this morning. It's a horrible paper all about describing and contrasting the similarities and differences between Islam and Philosophy. This paper was THE biggie, and FINALLY it's over! I will post piccies of my ritualistic paper burning session after my last exam on Friday.

But for now I'm just going to sit back in the quiet comfort of knowing that I won't have to do anymore RS work EVER!!

Howdy

Me and Shannon

Hello there! Hopefully this blog will be interesting and enlightening for all of you. I am leaving for America in exactly two weeks to stay there for a full year working on a cow farm and was told by my sister to start a blog so I can put down all the fun antics that will hopefully happen in the next year.

You probably won't hear from me until I land in the states and blog all about the journey so for now it's goodbye.

Me on a bale of hay
